Mars and Saturn are two other planets that can be seen. Venus and Jupiter are both expected to appear about 1/2 degree apart in our sky during this conjunction. A bright Jupiter in the middle of April 2022 approaches brilliant Venus as it begins its climb up the morning twilight. Combining these two worlds, the Earth and Sun can be seen 428 million miles (692 million km) apart, which is nearly five times the distance between Earth and the Sun. These two worlds are distinguished by their bright planetary glare thanks to binoculars. ![]() Watch them now as they make their way east before sunrise, as they are getting closer. Venus will be 0.2 degrees south of Jupiter, which is about the size of a full moon. The last conjunction will take place at 19 UTC on April 30th. This is an event that happens every few years, and it is always a wonderful sight to see.
